Will fit the wingtip and roll the leading edge next time out then onto the last piece of the empennage-the left elevator.

Need to do some back riveting on the spar.

The forward side of the rudder has been rolled and riveted. Also the aft edge has been back riveted.
Top fairing is attached. Still need to fit bottom fairing.

Ready to put the rudder on the shelf and start on the elevators. The bottom fairing is fitted but will not be attached for wiring later.

That’s it for today. Doesn’t seem like much but it is a full days work for me. Tomorrow the rudder skins go on. Should look like a rudder then.
Engine, Prop, and Panel Update

Per Kim at Van’s:Deposit has been received for engine and prop. Van’s waiting for expected delivery.
Also ordered parts R912 and R913.
Stein Air will be doing the panel. The panel will be painted the same color(red)as the accent on the fuselage with white lettering. We are on revision 6 for the panel.

Rudder has more to it than I ever imagined. Most of the riveting complete and then the skins I worked on earlier in the week will go on. Long days!

No pics today. Completed the riveting of the bottom of the rudder. Unfortunately I machine counter sunk the counter balance rib instead of dimple countersinking so I will have to wait on a new part.
More Rudder

Back riveting the stiffeners. After dimpling and deburring, place the rivets on the exterior side of the skin, put tape over the rivets to hold them in place, place stiffener over rivets, make sure plate is placed properly, and rivet stiffener to interior skin.

Rear Spar Extension

Notice as the rear spar extends below the VS the rivets are countersunk for a smooth surface. This will make a difference when the VS is attached to the fuselage.
